About

I, Evarest Schoofs, graduated at the Catholic University of Leuven in 2006 as a Master in Electrotechnical Engineering. Now, living in Belgium, I am working at ExxonMobil as an Engineer. Furthermore, I have started a company called Public Pharma, and am enrolled in various societies, such as Betagroup, Junior Chamber International and The Lions.

Nothing brings me more satisfaction than to make something that people use. As such, I started a few years ago with something I was apparently good at: creating software programs. This resulted in a few moderately popular programs like DirMonitor and WPChanger. Next to that, I completed my studies at the KULeuven in Belgium. I joined Materialise in 2006, where I had the chance of working with an international team in developing various small and medium projects. Nevertheless, I decided to leave that company in 2008 and join ExxonMobil where I now work as an Engineer and oversee several projects at our plant.

Still now, in my free time, I venture in the entrepreneurship world. The internet offers a great place for a beginning entrepreneur to learn the skills, try out several things, and be creative, without running too much risk. Searching for a nice project to start with has taken about 1.5 year, but now I ended up with starting the company Public Pharma.

Now, I'm doing everthing to get the project, have a decent ROI, while also trying to help others in the run. As such, I'm active in the Betagroup, for which we went to Spain to present various Belgian startups, with good success.

Previously.

Before this site was created, my main online presence was at this site. Here, I showed off my projects and let people download and use them. Over the year, more people than I would ever have imagined have downloaded my stuff, but with only little or no interaction. Therefore, I switched to internet development, where I hope to get more feedback and satisfaction from.

Evarest or Everest?

Well, I didn't choose my name, but I'm proud of it. It is a unique name, and helps me a lot to let people remember me!

As for the origin, I'm led to believe that it comes from some Polish writer, but if anybody can help me on that, let me know :) And if you happen to have the same name as me, give me a shout! I'd love to hear it!
