Getting Started
To start monitoring a folder, just follow these steps:

  1. Click on Add Folder Watch...

  2. Browse for a folder to monitor:

  3. Congratulations! You have successfully created a Watch. This folder will now be closely monitored. Modification, Deletion and Creation of Files/Folders will be logged.

  4. If you want, you can also watch all subfolders of this folder. Just right-click on the Watch in the list and check Recursive (registration needed).

Please be aware of the fact that monitoring lots of files will slow down you system!
Carefully select the folders you want to monitor!

  5. You need to save your work. Therefore, click File|Save as... and choose a suitable name for the project.

Please note that you only have to save manually when you actually made changes to the file yourself. All logs etc. will be saved automatically when you close DirMonitor.

  6. When you've chosen a filename for your DirMonitor File, you'll be asked whether you'd want it to be set as the Default DirMonitor File.

If you set it as default, DirMonitor will automatically open the file when it starts (eg. at Windows startup). That way you can continuously monitor the files/folders in your DirMonitor File.

  7. Now minimize DirMonitor and let it do its job :-)
