Monitor Processes
If you want, you can let DirMonitor watch the processes that are being activated or terminated.
An example can make things more clear:
  • If you have a virus scanner, you'd rather not have a virus terminate it's monitoring process.
  • Just add this virus scanner to your Watch List in DirMonitor and attach as trigger that specific virus scanner.
  • Then set the Watch Kind to Termination.
    • Now, DirMonitor will restart your virusscanner whenever it's being terminated.

Now the basics:
Use the instructions you find under Monitoring Files to add a new File Watch on the process you want to monitor.

Now you need to attach a Trigger to that Watch Item.
Right-click on the Watch Item and choose Add Program Trigger...

A new Form will popup. Here you need to set some properties of this Trigger, s.a. which file to execute when this Trigger is activated.

In this case, I've browsed for the same file, namely ZoneAlarm Client. This way, the program cannot be closed.

You can set additional Parameters for each program you execute.

Now you just need to define when this Trigger should be called.

And click Add to add the Trigger to the Watch Item.

DirMonitor will now restart the ZoneAlarm when it's being terminated.

If you want to terminate ZoneAlarm, you'll need to pause the monitoring of this specific Watch Item.

In the following session
  • In next session we will have a look at the security features of DirMonitor.
