Other Features
Here we'll have a look at the remaining Tabs of Preferences.

The General Tab

A lot of information is given already in that window. Here I'll just give some background information.

Show in Tray will hide/show the Tray Icon. Ie. this means that the user will be able to "see" DirMonitor running or not (of course a clever user can just look at the processes in the Tasklist).

When you decide to hide the Tray Icon, you can still maximize DirMonitor by reopening the program manually in Explorer or by using the Start Menu. DirMonitor will then maximize instead of opening another instance.

Start with Windows for all users will make DirMonitor start with Windows.
Note that this setting is for ALL accounts.

When Enable save before quit is checked, DirMonitor will try to save the current DirMonitor File when it quits. This way, you can ensure that the most accurate data is saved to the log and no data is lost.

If Enable save cycles every xx sec is checked, DirMonitor will try to save the current DirMonitor File every xx sec.

You can set the frequency at with DirMonitor will check the Monitored Files/Folders for changes.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Some systems appeared to be very unstable when the interval was set too short (shorter than 500 msec).
Since this test with these unstable systems, I have altered the code a lot. To be sure however, I have limited the interval to a minimum of 2 sec.

If you experience any problems with DirMonitor concerning this monitoring, please send me a mail!

The Notification Tab

When you uncheck Keep Logs, DirMonitor will by default keep no logs of the activities in Watched Folders/Files.
As this is the main reason to use DirMonitor, this option is only useful when you want to disable DirMonitor temporarily.

If you don't want to see a hint popping up from the Tray Icon when there is an event, uncheck Show hint in tray.

By default, when there is an event, the Tray Icon will start flashing for about 5 seconds. Check Disable flashing if you don't like the flashing...

When you decrypt a file, DirMonitor will always backup the original (encrypted) file. If you use the wrong password, you can always replace the wrongly decrypted file by the backup.

DirMonitor will remind you of that by an information dialog. Uncheck Show Info to not to show that dialog.

The Backups Tab

By default, DirMonitor will create backups of all Watched Files. You can disable this by checking Do not make backups.

Backups will be placed in the folder specified on this Preferences Tab.

You can restore the backups by going to Options|Restore Backups...

The Plugins Tab

The only plugins currently active are the Rijndael and BlowFish Encryption Algorithm Plugin. By default, the first Plugin will do the actual encrypting of your files.

If you are interested in more plugins, or have some suggestions, let me know, and I'll activate this feature. For now I'm not going to extend this part of DirMonitor.

If you change the Encryption Plugin, you won't be able to decrypt previously encrypted files! You have to activate the correct Plugin to decrypt these files.
